welcome

The Lower Columbia River and Pacific Ocean off the coast of Oregon have long been the 'go to' destination for the much sought after Chinook and Coho Salmon. While still in the Ocean, loosly gathered schools of Salmon have one thing on their minds... Food! They must fattten up before their long migration up river. Once these schools of Salmon are located and the bait is offered, Hold-on! it's common to have several hook-ups at the same time. Salmon will find their way to the Columbia River, moving in and out with the tides. Though less interesed in feeding they still can be taken by several different methods and the River offers calmer waters than the Ocean.

The number of Sturgeon found in the Columbia River Esturary in the summer months is amazing, limits are common in June. Though closed for retention in July and August, catch and release is permitted with many oversized being caught.

gear
Top quality gear is used aboard the Defiance, such brands as Shakespear, Ambassadeur and Lamiglas. Four Cannon electric downriggers are installed on the boat and are a highly effective method of targeting Salmon. Cannon downriggers use a positve ion control that creates a zone of attraction at the downrigger wire drawing fish to the bait. The ability to not only fish deep but to return to the 'strike zone' is key when targeting salmon. When using the line release it allows the fish to be fought with no 'hardware' ie: divers, flashers on the line, increasing both catch rate and fun!

My name is Steve Hunt. I've lived in this area most of my life and proud to call it home. I've also been boating and fishing the Lower Columbia River and Pacific Ocean for many years...and love it. I am federally licenced and state registered as a Charter Boat Operator. I invite you to book a trip with me so you and your family or friends can enjoy the same fun and excitement from boating and fishing that I do.
